Brainpop 2

Ok so I am setting some time aside to do this because if I do not then it will never get done.
So I first discovered this site on Twitter (@brainpop_uk) via someone else who had mentioned them so I thought I would follow them. I then went on and explored their site as much as possible on the ‘free’ bit (which is a good amount). I fell in love with the site and they where kind enough to let my school become a testing school for their product. All I had to do was carry out a test study for them :)

So what is the site about? It is basically a site filled with excellent videos which explain lots of different educational topics suitable for KS2 and up. All the videos start off with a question and then the two lead characters Tim and Moby go off and answer them. Really simple really.

Incase you are wondering Tim is the human and Moby is the robot.

After each film is played there is the ability to take a quiz so that you can assess the learning that has occurred. The best movie (in my humble opinion) is the one all about snot! It is great – I have a class of serial nose pickers and was looking for something to help them stop and so far it has worked well as when the fingers go in that direction I tell them to remember Tim and Moby.
However there are loads of other ones that are perhaps more educational! The first thing to do when you go to the brainpop site is to go to the introductory movie it explains the birth of Tim and Moby. After this I suggest you either go to the free stuff or the featured page. If you go to the free stuff it shows you what is free – simple eh?
If you go to the featured page you get a film of the month free.
If you are lucky enough there are some training courses floating about on how to use Brainpop – when I went to one I got

Hands up who is jealous!!!!!

Seriously I cannot recommend these films enough! Check them out and ask for a free trial if at all possible because it really is worth it!

    Hi MrsNat,

Wow! What a cool review! Thanks so much for introducing your class to BrainPOP UK. We loved that your pupils are stopping nose picking due to Tim & Moby. Is it OK to feature a quote from your review on the BrainPOP site itself to help inspire other teachers?

Of course LOL although people might think that it is a little strange talking about nose picking. :) Enjoy!
